Thoughts from anyone else who has played both?
Yeah, the lack of cockpit cam is a bummer in NASCAR 2005, but it makes little sense to me to pay $40 extra just to get an in-car camera angle. NASCAR 2005 is going for less than $10 on eBay, and it's a better overall game than NASCAR 06 going for $49.99 new. This game truly is NASCAR 2005 with useless Total Team Control and some pretty dodgy default setups. No improvement in the online interface other than chat in lobbies, and only slight graphical improvements. Otherwise, there's not a damn bit of difference between the two games in terms of gameplay other than the return of Pocono, Ken Schrader and Jeremy Mayfield, the new drivers and liveries, and a cockpit cam. So the more neutral setups in NASCAR 2005 are much more preferred than those in NASCAR 06 due to the limited setup model. So when the setup is WAY off like with most tracks in NASCAR 06, you can tune the car to something pretty close to neutral, but there aren't enough setup parameters like in NASCAR Heat 2002 to really nail the setup. While I like to tweak setups as much as anyone else, the very limited setup system in NASCAR 2005 and 06 prevents you from making the minute spring, shock and individual tire pressure adjustments to really dial in the car. Some of the default setups in NASCAR 06 are WAY off. The car setups were closer to neutral out of the box in NASCAR 2005. And asking a teammate to draft at Bristol, Martinsville or Richmond? That's laughable.Ģ. Team tactics, such as drafting and blocking, really only come to the fore on restrictor plate tracks as often as this feature does on all tracks. But Total Team Control is just a total waste. Yes, many EA features that enhance gameplay, such as the Truck Stick, Hitter's Eye and First Touch control, are ripped in here unfairly by me and others.
Total Team Control adds absolutely NOTHING to NASCAR 06. the more I like and appreciate NASCAR 2005, for a couple of reasons:ġ.
